Cluelessness....
Aug. 23rd, 2014 07:07 amOn one of my Japanese newssites there was an article that shows that it's not just Americans that live inside their own Illusions. Recently, a Japanese tourist in Syria was kidnapped by Extremists. The man, a military "Otaku" just thought it'd be neat to go and see the stuff in real life. His family was "shocked" by his abduction.
There's actually a term in Japanese that I can't remember the Romanji form which basically translates as 'made Stupid by Peace". Basically, it's the belief that the world is as safe and orderly as their particular part IS.
It's funny. I have more Sympathy for the abducted(and in cases like Foley's Murder) journalists than the dumbfuk touristas that go into warzones or dictatorships and then are surprised that the trip wasn't all "Bunnies-N-Lite". The same kind of sympathy I do for soldiers that are treated the same. Both knew what they were signing up for and KNEW there were RISKS. It's the Weenies that think that the Universe is like their gated community and DEMAND the gov't "DO SOMETHING" that piss me off.
It's SIMPLE:
If you don't want anything possibly Bad to happen to you, don't go to places where BAD THINGS ARE HAPPENING!!!!!!!!!
If you do, ACCEPT PERSONAL RESPONSIBILITY!!!!!
At least Mr Foley's parents UNDERSTOOD. Sadly, his brother apparently DIDN'T.
Cheers,
Pat
