Communication.....
Mar. 28th, 2016 09:20 amNot as easy as my "We R the Whirled" friends think;>.Different peoples; Ethnic Religious, etc truly DO have differing World Views. The Aware realize this. The Evolved Understand this. I'm the former since I'm STILL letting "Me" coloured glasses make me think the Other is like me and my World View.
Had this experience in my family this week. No matter what my Folkish Brethren say, Family does not equal Folk....unless they're also Heathen(and the same kind as you;>).
I've been a Practicing Asatruar since the early 90's. To me the Lore, Regin, Wights, etc aren't an Intellectual Exercise...They're REAL. I've also tried to make the Lore Applicable to my life Here and NOW. This means I don't see the World the same as most of my acquaintances/neighbors, heck, even many Heathens I know! But still, I'm "shocked" when my Words or Actions are misinterpreted or that I've assumed that the Words and Actions of others were Right and Wealful....that they meant them.
It's both Christian and Pagan friends that have done this. They're all annoyed that I'm upset when they've given their Word and they've gone back on It. As my SIL put it, "I mean well so that's all that's Important". NO, No IT ISN'T. Not to someone of a "Works" vs "Faith" Way. To paraphrase Eric Wodening's Paraphrasing, "We ARE Our Deeds". Actions mean more than JUST Words. And Words have substance. Of the alt.rel community, I think Heathenry's the main "Works" Way while most of the others are "Faith" Ways. And this can create a chitload of problems. As often the only heathen at a Pagan Gathering I'd get a lot of "Why are Asatruar/Heathens so Cold/Standoffish/Judgmental/etc. I then had to TRY to explain Colour to the Colourblind, since so many just can't see any view but they're own(explaining the predominance of "Witch Wars"). SOme could and at least with me I found them less likely to "Blow Me Off" for pre-agreed interactions. Others, they just assumed I'm just another Elitist R-Winger(which is funny since I've never Voted for a Republican outside of a local election and only when they person opposing them was a total fukwad). But that's the "fun" of Worldviews;>.....
Cheers,
Pat(as usual making no sense...)
