Blaugh......
Nov. 19th, 2016 11:05 amThe phrase we dread more than, "We need to add a Med" is "We need to change a Med". The former(except for the possible reactions;>)is no big deal for most of us....one more pebble in our cup of gravel. Switching? Not so much.
The worst is when you're not supposed to just replace but DO.
After more than 2 decades on Neurontin for Neuropathy it's not working well with the combo of hiv AND Diabetic Neuropathy. So they've switched to Lyrica. After a 3 week argument between my MD, Insurance and the company that ships my meds I've started it. Thing is, Neurontin's supposed to be weaned off of and Lyrica weaned on to. So what do they order? Stop N "cold turkey" and at the same time slowly build up the Lyrica dosage.
So, for the last couple of days I've been going through withdrawl from N(Flu symptoms, sleep disruption, etc)while not having a therapeutic dose of L so the Neuropathy is....UNPLEASANT. And they don't want to "bump it up" for another 2 weeks.
Blaugh...

Pat
