Pretty much "over" the election and the new Worldline it spawned. Since chances are fairly low that one or both of us with be around in a decade, I'm not "sweating" it anymore. "Saw" Destin(larger town nearest to us)abandoned, dunes covering the streets. ALL buildings were recognizable so both it's abandoning was recent AND within a decade, since it's a tourist town now, constantly putting up new condos. Truth, I'd seen FWB that way before the election so it's possible that the election has no effect on the Future of at least the Gulf Coast states.....
Personal Feeling that I won't be Incarnate at the time of the Fall so things don't look good for our area after 2027. Who knows, maybe the rest o the country is "Beer & Skittles" and only the Gulf Coast becomes a home for Seagulls and rodents.....

Sigh. I understand we lost a third of the better half of the Great Barrier Reef recently, to warmer water. Former housemate was full of a prediction about nuclear war, claiming to know which cities would be goners. I had a weird dream myself, but as you know, I'd better not trust what little I've "seen". I wish Wulfy were around with his wisdom. He had the opposite view from you regarding the resilience of Jörð, so I'm deeply worried.

She'll make it through us like she's made it through all the other Mass Extinctions....FINE. And for what it's worth, I don't "See" Humans becoming Extinct in the next few thousand yrs EITHER. We're well distributed so that some of us will survive and the God/desses KNOW how fast we "breed";>.
Thing is, this civilization is nothing more than an elaborate 'Jenga' stack; pull to many "sticks" and it falls apart. Heck, even when things are going well our tech is constantly breaking down. We're at the point that a good Solar Flare'll cause chaos. And that's just our dependence on tech.
I recently read a book, 'One Second After' about EMP's and their effects. Many of the things the author knew that I didn't(and should since I used to be a nurse) was how much simply an interruption of delivery of any significance could be disastrous.
He simply pointed out the Truth; that Americans are not only the most coddled population EVER but that we're the most Medicated. I knew this but didn't apply it to a disaster of any size(though remembering Opal and Erin some of it happened here on the Gulf Coast as well as during Katrina).
A fair percentage literally are life dependent on their Meds to survive. Then, there are the various Psych Meds that another fair percentage ore on. Not only stopping them means the problems they've been Masking are out there, "Cold Turkey" on these Meds causes there own Psych problems. I personally can attest to that.
They put me on tricyclics for Neuropathy initially but after a couple months began showing signs of sensitivity/allergy. I thought I'd be OK since I'd not been on them that long until I had a nightmare, woke up and found me surrounded by the same Monsters! Thankfully, between my Nursing and Metaphysical background I knew they were just hallucinations but they still scared the crap out of me. A "normal" person? Usually not so well;>.
On Climate Change; I think we are past the tipping point to sustain our civilization without Heroic Measures and while The Great Pumpkin is going to do nothing to mitigate it Clinton wouldn't have done enough EITHER. Right now the effects are in 3rd World countries and the Migrations from those effects can be "blamed" on religion. They are the EFFECT, not the CAUSE. Nothing will change until the Hamptons or a rich Florida enclave like Mar-El-Ago gets washed out and then it truly will be too late.
We're both glad we're at our present ages and health because a good chance has us Passing before things get UGLY.
Finally a "perk" for nearing your "Sell By" date;>!
