Feeling like wallowing for a bit. A BIT overwhelmed, not with my "issues" but with Chuck's. It'll be yr 5 in Nov that I've been trying to get him a doctor but the few in the area that take Medicare only are full....at least that's what they say. What care he's been getting comes from the low income mental health facility attached to the health dept and from our eye doc. Last week he broke his glasses and we went in for an exam. Vision's a little worse but his eye pressures are up and he has the beginnings of cataracts.
The main issue is that he's obviously in the early states of Dementia. Most days he has no short term memory. Even he admits now that if I Pass before him he'll have to go into a facility. Other than that, he can take care of himself, he just needs reminding(and the whiteboard that tells him what he needs to do each day is useless until he gets his new glasses. We've been using Facetime for him to call me if I'm out and he gets anxious but I thing it won't be long that he forgets how to do that. We're going to have to get a landline again.
The sadly funny thing is that with me getting overwhelmed, I'm suddenly getting some help from the clinic and aids org. Not a lot but at least some ideas, though the numbers so far have not been returned.....
Cheers,
Pat(not enjoying 86F and 100% Humidity at frikken 1000!)
