One of the many "Good Things" that come from a project like this yr's Meditations on the Greater Beings of the Heathen Pantheon is Deepening and Expanding you Understanding and Communication WITH these Beings. IMO this is a greater Use than using Meditation just to "Center". Each time I do it I learn more. Part through the Meditating but also from the studying because you NEED decent info to get "where" you want to "go". One of the reasons I don't post stuff like this anymore on my various groups/communities/etc is the vocal minority that feel there is no need for ANYTHING more than an "earnest heart". After all, only physical Beings can do Evil. Spirit is Always Good....Right?
INfo IS important because there ARE a lot of Beings out there that may not be actually Woeful but have no problem(in fact find it a laugh) to mess with Humans. And that's just the "real", not the personal "Glamour" that one's Ego and Subconscious can make up. Info/Lore are like maps to an address. Well, as long as They haven't moved in a millennium or so;>. Lore/info can't guarantee that They ARE who They ARE(or even IF THEY are;>) but it helps. The rest takes practice, practice, practice.
Since this time it was EVERYONE(except Laufey's Childe) I dealt with Beings I'd never had before and in a few cases...DIDN'T. Some Meditations there was little Connection and what was was faint and distant. A couple of them in some books the author's didn't believe They WERE, that they were translation or folklorist mistakes which could explain the lack of There there. In other cases the Beings Themselves may be Dormant, like Cthulu in Ryliah;>
Learning about and Deepening your connection(s) to the Beings of the Pantheon you fallow is never a waste...

Yes of course it is. I'm sorry you found silence or distance from some.

I'm disquitened that there is still such a widespread feeling that faring forth and all forms of trance are good in and of themselves and no harm can possibly come of them. A lot comes from traditions that are focussed above all on looking inward; it's a grave mistake to extend the same value automatically to opening oneself up. Makes me glad on one level that I seem to have lost again whatever ability I had gained to see and hear. (But I find myself wanting to ask you to say hi from me.) However, some of these folks are of course not hard polytheists at all, so things get confusing when talking with them.

I won't discourse on the lore this time :-)

I was kind of glad I Connected with so many, esp those that have barely a sentence about Them in the Lore. On the Human side of things, I've been retreating from public forums for yrs and are basically active on two, if you could call them Active;>!
Back when I was a young alt.rel I would have LOVED to talk to someone who'd been on their Path more than a couple yrs but I actually get more krap BECAUSE I've been at it so long. I just don't bother mostly. I'll answer posts on subjects I know well but I know if I don't write in a very wishy-washy style I'll get the usual "Aren't you being Elitist/Judgmental/etc" replies. Thing is....I AM. I just don't have the Patience anymore. Listening to my SIL recently basically supporting Flat Earthers was a perfect example. NO. IT"S NOT TRUE TO THEM. If they traveled in a straight line, they'd be back where they started no matter how much you deny the planet's shape. I'm just getting more curmudgeonly as the yrs go;>.
