One thing that's definitely come of studying Rootwork/Conjure is rekindling my Interest in what "In My Day" called Low Magic....or basically everything that Ceremonial Magicians DIDN'T do;>!
All those Herb-based Charms and Spells reminded me of a time that, really was, Magic in my life.
It's not Unusual. Most folks do less and less Magic the longer they Practice. Part is the bit where as you get older you're more likely to think Should I instead Why Not? Add in many if not most Paths that frown on jumping to Magic as the 1st Choice in Problem Solving and one day you realize it's been YRS since you've done ANY beyond the Devotional.
'Course, it's silly for me to put together a "toolbox" until we've Moved but the Idea's been Seeded. And since I'll be further North, I'll be able to Grow some of the Herbs I couln't(even if I wanted to) here.

Interesting. After 40+ years for me, it's mostly "low" magick, artificeing of things, and direct will on making minor changes. It's so much a part of how I live that I need to remind myself that other people don't do these things.

You're lucky. Most folks I know(self included) use Magic less and less until it's pretty much as a last resort. For me, I think it was the old Anglo-Saxon Protestant Programing. Realizing now that Magic isn't the "lazy" way...it's as much work, just different "muscles";>! Still, The late 70's was a silly time so it's not all that surprising I picked up that attitude. I mean, more than one person I knew in the Magical Community in SLC at the time "bitched" about not getting jobs(or Raises) after all their Magical Work when they didn't even bother with applying!?!@!

Ah, yes, the classic "gimme a job" demand spell with no application attached to it. I have stories about those - to the tune of "be careful what you wish for".
