Well, I noticed that the dieback continued on the Guava so whatever those Landwights were, they certainly weren't Wealful. Whether they cause or feed off Disease,I know now that they are a Sign of Trouble(maybe a Botantical version of the kind of Wight that often hovers over Violent or Woeful persons...). I pruned about a foot below the slightest sign of distress and hope for the best.....
