I can Understand the concept. After all, there are Dieties that are fearful and most have Abilities that ARE. What I've never Understood is Following one(or more) that you're Fearful OF. A Spiritual "Stalkholm Syndrome" maybe? Or perhaps that's one of the reasons certain Deities force their Followers into Monotheism. If they Knew there was a Choice, would they all still stick around?

Dangerous one. Of course one answer is to remind you that you have to be either masochistic or have very peculiar ideas of duty, or of what makes for an afterlife worth totally effing up this life for, to go for any of the Desert God's religions - from our POV. Diff'rent strokes for diff'rent folks and all that.

But also "awe" feels like "terror." Unless you are a fearless hero, or not really experiencing awe but rather a frisson of excitement, or you have done so much therapy that you can name all your emotions precisely the way a fashion designer can name colors. That's why the guy's called Yggr. That's why jötnar quake when Redbeard gets a fury on. It's not always guilt. There's a genuine jolt to the system, more often than not.
