Project Results...
Feb. 8th, 2012 07:28 amEvery yr I have a number of projects. One of those last yr was to re-connect with old friends, mainly because so many folks I know kept telling me I needed to...so I did.
The results? Well, out of morethan a dozen friends I hadn't been around for over a decade, only one was the experience worth the trouble. When I'd met him, he was still in the Closet, still married and pretty much(like most of these guys)stuck Emotionally and Sexually in highschool. Today, he's in a stable relationship with a guy who's age and activity appropriate. He and his Partner are very Happy.
The others? Well, it's what i expected and why I wasn't all that Interested in the 1st place. Time Passes and People Grow in new directions. "You Can't Go Home Again". It was nice for the most part to know that those changes were Positive. Some, not so much. I've always noticed that as folks get older their "Is-ness" just gets more concentrated. What kind of person they are, barring major life trauma simply becomes more condensed. Ditzes become Flakes, Libertarians have become "Fauxees", nice guys(and gals) have become sweethearts.
But they're not the folks I used to hang out with anymore. Those folks are GONE.
Was it worth it? No. Well, except no one's going to pester me on the subject again....not if they know better;>
Cheers,
Pat
